Week Two.

These selected photos are focused on light and the shadows they cast. These particular photos have helped inspire me on the shape and pattern on my samples. I will continue to take photos and create drawing to create more ideas for my samples.  I find the pattern the lights cast are interesting creating circular motions, so I will use this pattern in many of my samples creating structure throughout my work. To develop this further I will start to make my own shapes and patterns using lights and shadows, keeping the work abstract as I find abstract inspirational photos more interesting so can be developed further.

Collages and Colour Blocking.

After creating my mood board I choose three small sections of it, and only picked out the colours and the shapes. I then painted these out, I think the colours work well and creates strong contrasts in the painting. I then went on to develop this further by creating four collages relating to my theme 'perceptions' and to the mood board. The first two collages look at texture, I created texture by layering the photos on top of each other and by crumpling the drawing. The second two samples look more at composition and layout. I think the third collage with the strips of photos overlapping is an interesting idea, which I would like to develop by creating a knit sample using the techniques of colour changes and e-wrapping to make the colours in the piece overlap. I final collage is in blocked colours I would develop this into knit by using partial knit to add in the bursts of colour at the side and then e-wrapping for the solid colour going down the side of the collage.

Perceptions.

The main theme to my work will be perceptions, how I perceive the city. I went out taking these photos from various angles rather than just head on. I will develop this theme through drawings and through my knit samples. Within the samples I will add blocks of colour through e-wrapping to create sections of textured interest. Most of these photos has a strong contrast of colour this is also something I would like to show in my knit work.
