I looked at different yarn qualities to see which yarns I will use in my work.

The yarn wrap I created shows the textures, however, I would like more. I may bring in mohair type yarns. When I start sampling this will become more obvious as to whether I will need to add in more textures.

I painted out colour squares to gain a sense of proportion. This made me realise that I will only need small amounts of the brighter yarns to add volume to the fabrics, otherwise it will become too bright if I add any more than a flash, becoming less menswear. |

After finalising my colour pallet I started to draw out different designs. My designs have made it apparent that I want the main patterns to feature at the top of my fabrics and fade out becoming plainer knit at the bottom. Allowing detail but not too much as it becomes unwearable. |
 |
I am going to focus on particular techniques which add depth and texture. When the samples are developed into knitwear garments the detailing will be on the upper half of the body. This will enhance the body making the shoulders and chest look broader and wider. |
Changing the way the body looks is a main part of this unit. I want to create structures that strengthen the body to create a masculine look. By using brighter unexpected yarns and colours such as bright green or fluffy blue mohair will bring in a feminine side to the overall pieces.
