Locating: Final samples.

This week I continued to develop from my previous samples.
This sample is partial knit, developed from last week’s sample. This focuses on structures and adds volume. I am going to create a similar sample; however, I will loop the long partial knitted sections to create a more structured look.

I used foils this week to add depth and colour, the foil brightens this sample. I am going to foil another sample within the collection to link it in with the other fabrics.

I developed from last week’s samples creating a piece that mixes two techniques. The structured top, which fades out into inlaying which creates a more rhythmic effect, shows contrasts. I developed this from my drawings, which start out as neat lines, which then dissipate out.

This sample moved on from the previous sample above. It looks at how extreme I can make the wave effect. I used the Lilliput cording machines to create this thick yarn which I inlayed. This yarn was difficult to work with however it adds depth and volume.

I have mounted some of my final samples with the raw edge at the bottom this is due to the pattern. I wanted the patterns at the top of the fabrics however I did not want the raw edge to be unravelling into my patterns, so I knitted my work upside down.

I started pinning my knitting on a mannequin, to look at placement.

I focused on adding the detail to the upper half of the body and the shoulders.

The tucking ripple on the chest draws attention to the chest.

This sample using the corded yarn, adds volume which emphasizes the shoulder and arm.
