Elana's work uses a fraying effect to create these distressed pieces. I find this highly inspirational and have started to incorporate this into my own work. My sample, the bottom photograph, is very simple however, the muslin frayed on top creates a softer sensitive affect, which I think adds more interest to the piece. I think next week I will develop this fraying affect creating more complicated pieces. Elana's work is mainly wall pieces for galleries this is a similar path as what I would like to develop my work in. I feel I am better at creating fine art pieces and benefit from looking at artists like this, to help inspire me.
